Alfed

This social documentary shows a progression of my personal relationship with an individual, despite our social and political differences. I went into this project thinking that the elderly was the enemy, and were the reasoning behind choosing the ‘wrong’ choices for our future, and therefore felt disconnected to them. Media outlets furthered this disconnection by portraying the millennials as “snowflakes” (a term to describe those as lazy and self-entitled), therefore some of the elder generations distanced themselves because they felt as though millennials didn’t understand life. To challenge this disconnection, I set out to find a friend.

The individual in this project is 81-Year-Old, Alfred; nuclear testing veteran, spoon fanatic, and one of my now greatest friends. Though we differ on opinions like voting conservative or labour, we’re able to see through that.
