Since 2010, thirty-eight independent shops and businesses in Nuneaton, a small working-class market town in the heart of the West Midlands, have ceased trading. Many of the town’s residents believe it’s due to an unstable economy caused by a government that works for the few and not the many. With the growing feeling of a community being unheard by a governing body that does not reflect their beliefs and values.

Within this body of work, I have created three typologies that considerably documents the truth to what the state of the current economy is. What is happening to small towns such as Nuneaton, that rely heavily on independent traders for their livelihood and displaying the end of the British high street that my generation and I grew up with. Showing the sad reality not just within the Midlands but nationwide.
