Once we remove the ‘male gaze’ voyeurism that is present in contemporary media, and sometimes even in girl-on-girl photography, a broader authenticity and range of expressions emerges for female representations.
We are invited to see past exterior appearances and an emotional resonance that is aligned with our daily lives and experiences.
Presented here is a combination of the female gaze and editorial photography, as well as windows (in the shape of polaroids) into my personal life and my own gaze. This work provides glimpses into the different faces of millenial women, and I hope that girls who see this can be inspired to shape their own stories and not feel like outliers on their own maps.
