Sally Cunningham

Forlorn Noctambulation

I travel through space, not recognised nor noticed; a blur, leaving behind only a vague imprint in your memory, slowly fading into the background. Disconnected. Isolated. In my solitude, I am surrounded by nature. The natural forms give solace. Maybe a cure to my distress; an antidote.

In my sleep, I arise and escape. Still dreaming I step through the marsh. The wet ground between my toes. The black mercury ever deepening before me, cold with its touch and warm in its embrace. I press forward growing closer to the surface. Submerged almost entirely, I am enveloped. Life all around me. Consoled. Alone no longer.
